Port de Pollença (Puerto Pollensa)

A Majorcan Gem

Fancy Mallorca (Majorca) but without the hen and stag do’s and boozy brits abroad ? Then Puerto Pollensa could be the destination for you !

Easy flight choices daily from Bristol with EasyJet or RyanAir into Palma (PMI) airport and cheap convenient shuttle bus services (https://www.hoppa.com/en) from the airport to the North East of Majorca, which can be anything from only 45 to 90 minutes depending on the number of drop offs or if there are more of you then a taxi may work out better….and faster 🙂

We have stayed in various places in Puerto Pollensa from self catering apartments within a 10 minute walk to the beach to hotels on the beachfront…

Cabot Romantic Hotel Cabot Romantic is an adults only hotel in a great location across the road from the beach. The beach in this area is by far the best and does not get over crowded even in high season. The hotel is basic but extremely clean, light airy rooms and provides a great breakfast. One tip is to sign up to their website and receive great discounts when you book direct, even book now pay later deals. Also you can use the sister hotel Cabot Pollensa Park Spa which is great for the spa and for families.

La Goleta Hotel de Mar is another lovely adults only hotel on the beachfront and has that boutique feel, a nice touch is the plunge pool on the roof. We managed to find a deal on Booking.com but it’s always worth contacting them direct. La Goleta Hotel de Mar / http://www.lagoletahoteldemar.com/en

If you fancy an apartment then drop Jan an email or give her a call. She lives in the area and has sorted us out with great apartments on numerous occasions. https://www.parasolpropertymallorca.com/

There are many bars on the front and also around the main square, many offering deals on cocktails and other drinks. The square is a good place to sit and people watch as well as our favourite beachfront bar Sea.bar.is. If you get a chance you have to see Dennis the local Elvis attraction, he is guaranteed to entertain and everyone loves him…if there’s a bar full of people and the famous songs are playing then Elvis is in the house !! There are no nightclubs and most bars close by 1am if not before. Puerto Pollensa is very safe and you will completely at ease walking around late at night.

There is no shortage of great restaurants whether you like traditional, small family run places to steak houses or even Indian and Chinese !…too many to choose from. Here are just a few of our favourites:

Imperial Bar & Tapas restaurant on the front is a fabulous cosy place to eat great quality food. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly and attentive. We thoroughly recommend this place to eat tapas.

Restaurante Bodega Can Ferrà is a family run restaurant in one of the side streets just off the beachfront specialising in Mallorcan cuisine…great menu, good wine, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere.

Restaurant C’an Josep is the place to go for a delicious paella. It is a short walk from the town but worth it for something a bit special with lovely views of the bay.

Chill out on the gorgeous beach where you can rent a parasol and sunbeds for the day or if you fancy something a bit more energetic then there are kayaks, parascending, water rides or just hire some bikes and cycle around the bay to Alcudia old town (no hills so all good !!). Pollensa old town is worth a visit either by bike or local bus as is Soller which is a bit further afield but very quaint with a tram that takes you from the top to the beach…try the white Sangria there…very good even if I do say so myself 🙂 Regular boat trips will take you around the bay to Formentor if you wanted a break from Puerto Pollensa beach and visit another lovely location. There are also some lovely walks through the hilly landscape at the back of the town, some of which lead to secluded coves and great sea views.

Puerto Pollensa enjoys a great location, perfect for couples and families alike and lots to keep you occupied if you so wish or just relax and watch the world go by !!

Just a short hop to the beach !
